Donate through Your Estate to Leave a Legacy for the Future
You worked hard for your money and assets. Choosing to add us to your will or trust is a gift that goes above and beyond and will allow us to help many animals find their FURever homes.
As an independent 501c3, we rely on the generosity of our donors to save the lives of animals and find them homes. Donating through your estate is easy and can be done with 6 simple steps:
Step 1:
Decide that you would like to include The Humane Society of Macomb as a beneficiary in your will or trust
Step 2:
Speak to your attorney about how much you want to give to save animals and the best way to handle the donation so that other would-be-heirs can’t successfully challenge your wishes.
Step 3:
List our organization as a beneficiary in your will. (Please note that we are not associated with any other humane society or animal welfare organization, nor do we receive funds from the city, county or state to pursue our mission.)

Step 4:
Identify the items or amount of money you are leaving in your will. If you are bequeathing a life insurance policy or an IRA account, you will need to change that with the institution that manages that account for you, but it doesn’t hurt to reiterate it in your will.
Step 5:
Make sure your executor knows about your donation and where to find your will so that they are prepared to execute your wishes and directions.
Step 6:
Depending on the size of your gift, The Humane Society of Macomb would like to memorialize the gift you give in a way that you would like. Please reach out to discuss your gift and wishes with our Shelter Director, at any time. We appreciate your support.

Memorial & Tribute Giving
Donating In Memory Of A Loved One or Pet
Honor the life of a loved one, friend or pet with a memorial gift. When you donate, you’ll have the opportunity to add the name of the person it is in memorial of and if you donate at least $25, we will send a note to their family, if you provide their contact information.
