Eligibility Requirements

You Must Be:

18 years or older
Z
Serving hours for a non-violent misdemeanor offense such as DUI/OWI
Z
Able to commit to completing your required hours within court-specified timeframes
Important Note:

The Humane Society of Macomb does not accept all offenses. Your application will be reviewed to determine eligibility.

Wait to hear from our Volunteer Coordinator who will contact you to schedule an orientation

Attend required orientation before beginning your service hours

Processing Time:

Allow time for application review and scheduling. We recommend applying well in advance of your court deadline.

What to Expect

Orientation Required:

All community service participants must attend an orientation session before beginning their hours.

Types of Work:

Community service work typically includes:
  • Cleaning and maintenance tasks
  • Laundry and dishes
  • Organizing supplies and donations
  • Facility upkeep projects
  • Administrative support tasks
Scheduling:
  • Hours must be completed during our operational times
  • We’ll work with you to schedule hours that meet your court requirements
  • Consistent attendance is required
